Ambassador Michelle Boone-Thornton, Ed.D.

Board Chair (PhD)

Ambassador Michelle Boone-Thornton brings over 25 years of leadership and service in the field of mental health to her role as Board Chair of the Royal Care Foundation. She currently serves as the Assistant Program Director of the Doctorate in Counseling at Regent University and is certified as a Qualified Mental Health Provider in Virginia, specializing in children and families.


Her career reflects a deep commitment to child welfare, family stability, diversity, and education, with experience spanning clinical practice, higher education, and international scholarship. She has developed and taught courses on child welfare and intellectual disabilities, published research on multicultural perspectives in mental health and education, and served as a visiting professor at the Universidad de Comillas in Madrid, Spain.


In addition, Dr. Boone-Thornton has been a therapeutic foster parent since 2012, training families across Virginia to care for children with emotional and behavioral needs. Her vision and expertise strengthen the Foundation’s mission to promote equity, healing, and opportunity for vulnerable communities.
